Each April, Local 14 joins with the Smithsonian Institute for JAZZ APPRECIATION MONTH to celebrate jazz by holding free concerts in schools and public spaces.  Our jazz musicians are paid through public and private sponsorships and grants including matching grants for education from the Musicians Performance Fund. Local 14 (Albany and Troy) has a long association with jazz.  This art form flourished here in its heyday whereby the Capital District was a regular stop on the New York – Chicago – West Coast circuit. We pay tribute to members past and present who are or who have made exceptional contributions to the music.
